The Friends of Junction Plaza Park Need Your Help!

Volunteering for the park is easy and fun. Plus, every hour you volunteer could be matched by the City of Seattle through the Neighborhood Matching Fund Grant if you pledge your time by April 6th.

We cannot stress enough the fact that your volunteer hours could be matched by the Department of Neighborhoods Matching Fund Grant and the fact that we need you to sign your pledge and turn it in. Volunteering is a great way to meet your neighbors and become involved in your community. PLEASE sign up for one of the volunteer opportunities below by printing THE PLEDGE FORM and faxing or mailing back to us.

Although we may not use your pledged volunteer hours before April 6th, we must show that we have neighborhood involvement in order to be considered for matching funds, so make sure to send the signed pledge form back.

Friends of Junction Plaza Park - Support Team

Building a park is a community effort. Hands are needed to help with the community organizing. We need to schedule Farmers Market volunteers, send email alerts, make phone calls, lead a clean up day – and we need help to make this all happen. This can be a small or large commitment; whatever suits your interests.

Suggested volunteer commitment for 2009: 5-20 hours

Sunday Farmer's Market

Host the Friends of Junction Plaza Park info table at the Farmers Market! Two people at a time will share news about the Park with our community and hand out informational flyers and fundraising envelopes. Either 2 hour or 4 hour shifts.

The 5 Hour / $100 Pledge

If you can ask 10 friends for $10, you’ve done a great thing for West Seattle! This is an easy, low pressure pledge that can be done anytime. Just by talking to your friends, family, co-workers and neighbors, you are helping build support for green space and a much needed public area in The Junction. And most Junction-goers would be happy to donate $10, so don’t be shy to ask!

Park Maintenance

Let’s keep our future park looking great while we raise funds for construction. It’s amazing how bits of trash can accumulate and create a shabby look. Not our park! Join a monthly clean up of the park and feel good that you did.

Park Construction

Hopefully starting in late fall 2009, we’ll have a fully funded park to build. Volunteer opportunities will be determined, but now is the time to express your interest.
